His cold, purple gaze drilled into you as he waited for a response. The eyes of the Pokemon who had once seemed so caring were now clouded with darkness, his usually-upright position morphed into that of a low, abused thing. He kneeled before you, his face merely inches from yours. You took a moment to let his words sink in.

Existence is a blessed thing... Existing for a reason is more than a blessed thing.

Existing for a reason is truly something magical.

Your soft hands went to your face, covering your eyes for a few bleak moments. The warmth of the fire didn't matter anymore. Its heat provided nothing as you grew cold from the current conversation. It took all you had to work up the courage to even peek through your fingers at the angry Pokemon. With a nervous swallow, you did so, feeling a chill run down your spine. "Mewtwo..." You began, your voice quietly ringing in the air. "Tell me... please... What do you mean when you say these things?"

Swallowing again, you felt a wave of nervousness creep along your spine once more. The sound of Magby's playing in the distance did not make the atmosphere any friendlier. The Pokemon did not answer for a few moments. When he did, his response was rather surprising. "(f/n)... I am deeply sorry. I should not have acted in this respect towards you... If... only you could forgive me could we start anew." His dark eyes gazed into yours and an almost invisible smile formed on his face.

You had nothing to say. Not a nod; not a gesture. The Pokemon's actions earlier made you fear for your own life, even if only for a second, and that was not okay.

Mewtwo looked away. "So... I see..." he said, his voice reflecting a slight hint of sadness. "That's alright. You don't have to forgive me... But, in this case..." he said, pointing. "I think you should sleep there tonight."

Your gaze followed his fingers, stopping at a small cave. "No way! I'm not sleeping in there!" you exclaimed. "It's dark!"

Mewtwo was not in a joking mood. "Very well. You'll have to sleep in here, then." he said, using his psychic abilities to make a bubble-shaped barrier. "This will keep you warm and contained."

You moaned. You didn't want to sleep. Not yet. You had so many questions you wanted answers for, but he didn't seem to want to give them. In the end, you decided not to pressure him. "... Okay..." you mumbled, laying where the Pokemon motioned, his eyes glowing blue as his barrier formed.

You waited, eyes closed, for him to go to sleep. Every time you would check, you'd see he was still as awake as ever. Giving up, your (e/c) orbs closed, allowing you to drift into the arms of sweet sleep.

You swore you heard Mewtwo mumble, "Good night, (f/n). Good night indeed."
